3 Days Left to Find or Design Your Own!!

In 3 days, Facebook is going to convert all business pages to the new Timeline format. I know many people that already made the switch, but are having difficulty finding a good Cover Image.

Well if you are Photoshop savvy then all you need to know is that the Cover Image has to be 851px wide X 315px high. What if you have the Photoshop skills, but lost your old version of the program?? Have no fear!! Check out a free online version of Photoshop called Pixlr by clicking here.

If you just want to search Google Images for a good Cover Image, I have also have a couple tips.

  1. Open Google Images and search for the item you desire
  2. In the lower left corner is an option to modify the search options for “Exactly” Image Size
  3. Press that option and input 851 for width and 315 for height

This will limit the search options to the correct size for your Facebook Cover Image.
Well that’s all for now. If you found this information useful please head over to our Facebook page and Like us by clicking here! Stayed tuned, we will post new updates as we explore the new features of Facebook Timeline for Pages.

5 Things You Need To Know

On April 1st all Facebook Pages will be converted over to Timeline. Here at RDG we have already made the switch and have some tips to optimize the full potential of Timeline for your business Facebook Page.

Check out our Facebook Page by clicking here.

  1. Timeline Cover Photo – Along with your profile picture you now have more real estate to project your brand image or products. The timeline cover dimension are 851px wide by 315px high.

  2. Brand Profile Pic – The profile picture will sit 29px from the left side of the cover photo and 239 px from the top of your cover photo. The profile pic is 180px by 180px so if you have a graphic designer or are savvy with Photoshop, maximize your space and seamlessly integrate your cover and profile pictures.

  3. Icons, Icons, Icons – With Timeline you now have the ability to customize the app icons located in your admin panel. These icon dimensions are 107px wide by 70px high. If you don’t know where to find good icons check out this site with thousands of free high quality icons: http://www.veryicon.com/. Now that you have your icons selected you need to upload them to each of your apps. Start by clicking on admin panel > manage > edit page > apps > Edit settings (on the app you want to change). You can also re-name the tab following the same steps, the two fields are on top of each other.

  4. Pinned Posts – You can now choose to keep your most important posts at the top of your Timeline. By editing a post as pinned this post will sit on top of your timeline for 7 days. Use this for running a promotion or campaign that your fans will see right on top! Click the pencil icon in the upper right corner of the post and select pin to top. It’s just that easy!

  5. Highlight Story Layout – While you are pinning a post you probably noticed that star in the upper right hand corner of the post. You can also choose to highlight a post which will expand that post from the two column layout to a full screen. Use this feature to show photos or a video in large detail across the full width of your timeline.

Well that’s all for now. If you found this information useful please head over to our Facebook page and Like us by clicking here! Stayed tuned, we will post new updates as we explore the new features of Facebook Timeline for Pages.

Taking a break in the Grand Canyon

Taking a break in the Grand Canyon

It has been non-stop action at Rekola Design Group for the past month. Since I was already in Vegas for the trade show I decided to head to the Grand Canyon for the remainder of the weekend. It was in the 30s at the Canyon, which kept the number of visitors low but also kept the hot chocolate flowing. Day 1, I drove along the eastern side of South Rim from Grand Canyon Village 35 miles out to Desert View Watchtower. The views were breathtaking and word cannot even begin to describe them. Day 2, I put on the backpack and hiked down into the Canyon. The descent was 2500 feet over 3 miles before my lungs and legs decided that was far enough. After reaching the top again, I turned to west and hiked along the canyon rim for another 6 miles. Check back to the My Media page, as I will post the best pictures to the website soon.

Happy Valentine’s Day

I hope every one out there is having a great day and making plans with that someone special.

I have a quick question for you. How much will you be spending this year on your Valentine? If you’re like most of us, it is something like….

  • $50 for flowers
  • $30 for dinner
  • $25 for chocolate
  • $5 on a card

But all that stuff is perishable. What if I said you could give your Valentine a gift that lasts for years!! For the same price as all those items, that are forgotten in a few weeks, you could get a custom website filled with pictures and videos of your life together.

Goodbye Whitney

I have to give a shout-out to one of my favorites, Whitney Houston as I heard she passed away tonight. A few hours ago the social networks exploded with Whitney references, and with the Grammy Awards scheduled for tomorrow I can image they will be rushing to get something planned. Say what you want about her, but the girl could sing.

At Super Bowl XXV in January 1991, she easily performed the greatest version of the Star Spangled Banner in history!! It’s could be as close to perfect as a human voice can sound. The beauty of her rendition is in it’s simplicity. Most singers try to make “The National Anthem” their own with unnecessary additions that end up making the song sound like a bad American Idol audition. Not Whitney, she just sang the hell out of the song.
